Summary of Position:

Coordinate Logistics department activities within the facility with direction from the Logistics Manager.

Assists in setting up standards of performance, measures progress, sets up and controls work flow and determine personnel needs based on production schedules and with the assistance of the Logistics Manager.


Duties and Responsibilities (but not limited to):

  • Accountable for the daily output of production for the logistics department
  • Assist with directing and coordinating production, processing and distribution within the logistics department
  • Assist with coordinating production activities within the facility to ensure the total manufacturing objectives are accomplished
  • Review processing schedules and production orders to make decisions concerning inventory requirements, staffing requirements, and work procedures; review with Logistics Manager as needed
  • Work with Logistics Manager in setting and monitoring product standards, examining samples of raw products or directing testing during processing, to ensure finished products are of prescribed quality
  • Assist in production tracking and quality control systems, analyzing production, quality control, maintenance, and other operational reports, to detect production problems
  • Monitor production flow and logistics operations and be able to track parts, recognize defects, and manage scrap activities
  • Material handling functions as required
  • Perform layered audit and quality checks
  • Follow and work with processes and procedures associated with the logistics area
  • Performs any variety of operations within the group to maintain flow of work
  • Ensure 5S is adhered to properly
  • Support and maintain environmental, health, and safety programs
  • Demonstrate equipment operations, work, and safety procedures to new employees or assign employees to experienced workers for training
  • Observe work and other indicators to ensure Team Members conform to production or processing standards
  • Manage the workflow of Team Members, create team schedules and delegate tasks to meet production goals
  • Assess attendance and work performance of team members, and identify and address areas that need improvement
  • Confer and motivate Team Members and Team Leads to coordinate department operations and activities
  • Provides development and positive leadership to Team Members through coaching, counseling, and discipline
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:


Experience

  • Must have at least 2 years' experience in a Lead role; preferably in a logistics environment
  • Must have at least 3 years' experience working in an automotive manufacturing environment
  • Automotive seating manufacturing experience a plus, but not required

Education

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in logistics, engineering, or supply chain management; or equivalent workrelated experience

Skills:


  • Must have knowledge of quality systems including TS16949, ISO and QS; continuous improvement, Kaizen, 5S, lean manufacturing, KANBAN, TPS
  • Must have strong computer skills; proficiency in MS Office preferred
  • Must have proven leadership skills and experience
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Must have excellent multitasking and organizational skills
  • Must have strong critical thinking skills and the ability to problem solve and prioritize issues in a fast paced, changing environment
  • Must be proficient skills in math, reading and writing
  • Broad knowledge of OSHA and workplace health and safety programs
  • Must be able to spot visual defects and assist in making quality decisions
  • Capable of operating Powered Industrial Trucks and pallet jacks
