    Cloud Security Engineer Job Description

    As a Cloud Security Engineer, you will play a crucial role in collaborating with DevOps and SysOps teams to ensure the secure transition of applications from on-premise to cloud environments. Your responsibilities will focus on enhancing security controls, mitigating risks, and ensuring compliance with Federal requirements and best practices.


    • Develop and implement infrastructure as code (IaC) scripts to enhance security mechanisms in the cloud infrastructure.
    • Serve as the subject matter expert on cloud security, including SIEM, access control mechanisms, IDS/IPS, and more.
    • Monitor and proactively address potential security incidents within the cloud infrastructure to prevent service disruptions.
    • Provide guidance to DevOps teams on security standards and best practices for cloud deployment.
    • Assess and maintain security controls for cloud systems, creating detailed documentation and architecture diagrams.
    • Recommend and implement new security measures to address evolving security challenges.
    • Collaborate with team members to continuously enhance the security of the cloud infrastructure.

    Required Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in computer science, cyber security, engineering, or related field with at least 7 years of experience in cloud system and security administration.
    • Experience in designing and implementing enterprise-wide cloud security architectures.
    • Proficiency in SIEM, vulnerability management solutions, and common networking tools.
    • Skilled in scripting languages such as Python, Perl, PowerShell, or Bash.
    • Knowledge of TCP/IP/UDP, IDS/IPS, NACL, ACL, and SG applications.
    • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
    • Experience in supporting Federal agency enterprises is a plus.
    • CISSP certification mandatory; AWS Certified Security - Specialty, ISC2, or Cloud Security Alliance certifications preferred.
    • Ability to obtain Level 2 Secret (ANACI) clearance.
