ARM Group LLC is looking for a self-driven and energetic Lab Technician who is looking to grow and embodies an ownership mentality As a Soil Laboratory Technician, you will play a crucial part in supporting our laboratory operations by assisting with various tasks related to soil analysis and testing, with a focus on ensuring the quality and durability of future infrastructure projects.

This position offers an exciting opportunity for individuals interested in contributing to essential infrastructure development through soil testing and analysis.

The Laboratory Technician will collaborate with a team of engineers and scientists, project managers, and other staff to provide a wide range of laboratory and some field-based testing services for a variety of design and construction projects.

The Laboratory Technician should have the desire and ability to occasionally travel and support a wide range of projects throughout Northeast PA.


Primary Responsibilities:


  • Conduct soil and concrete laboratory testing by preparing soil samples for analysis and processing according to established procedures.
  • Conduct a range of tests on soils, such as particle size analysis, moisturedensity relationship and Atterberg Limits using appropriate equipment and methodologies.
  • Ensure accuracy of testing by ensuring proper calibration and maintenance.
  • Accurately record test results and relevant data; maintain organized records.
  • Perform quality control checks and inspections, reporting deviations, as necessary.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and clean laboratory environment.
  • Perform occasional construction quality assurance / construction quality control field inspections.
  • Monitoring subsurface investigations including exploratory borings, test pits, and sampling.
  • Effectively communicate with key stake holders including project managers, project engineers, and others depending on the project and job tasks.

Base Requirements:


  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Team oriented with the ability to perform independent handson fieldwork.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling soil samples and conducting tests.
  • Ability to operate laboratory equipment effectively.
  • A selfstarter possessing strong verbal and written communication skills, basic computer skills, strong work ethic, and organizational skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.
  • Valid Driver's License in good standing.
  • Ability to travel to and from job sites, including potentially overnight stay.

Preferred Requirements:


  • Associate degree or coursework in science, engineering or related field preferred, but not required.

Physical Requirements:


  • Ability to operate laboratory equipment, hand, and power tools.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle safely without restrictions.
  • Ability to frequently lift 3060 lbs.; occasionally lift 6080 lbs.
  • Ability to frequently carry 3060 lbs. up to 30'; occasionally carry 6080 lbs. up to 30'.
  • Ability to walk and stand continuously throughout the day, occasionally on uneven surfaces with some bending and stooping hours per day.
