JOB PURPOSE:

The Substitute Associate Teacher will under general supervision of assigned locations.

Substitute Associate teachers be responsible for the care and instruction of pre-school children and promote their social, physical and mental development.

Provide supervision of children and support the planning and implementation of classroom lessons and activities. Serves meals and ensures a healthy and safe learning environment for children.


POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:


ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF THE POSITION INCLUDE:


  • Share teaching responsibilities with a Teacher I or II
  • Supervise children while at the site
  • Conduct safety checks and ensure a safe learning environment
  • Prepare snacks and meals for children
  • Clean and sanitize food areas
  • Help children practice good hygiene, including personal cleanliness and diapering, as needed
  • Assist in planning and executing lessons and activities for children.
  • Conduct teacherparent conferences and home visits (except when restricted by the subbing agency outside subs are employed with)
  • Assists in learning and developmental assessments of children.
  • Schedule, support, and follow through with the developmental screening and ongoing assessment of infants' and toddlers' motor, language, social, cognitive, perceptual, and emotional skills (including but not limited to DRDP2015 IT,
    ASQ3,

ASQ:

SE-2, etc.).

  • Serve as an interpreter for parents who do not speak English, when possible as needed
  • Prepping Family style meals and Dishwashing as needed
  • Performing diaper changing for children as needed.
  • Maintain records of attendance, achievement, and other required paperwork, both manual and digital
  • Organize and maintain instructional and program supplies.
  • Set up classrooms for various purposes and take down classrooms at shared sites.
  • Willing to travel to various school locations

Requirements:


QUALIFICATIONS:


The position requires a responsible adult who likes working with children and a team player with a positive attitude and good organizational, time management and communication skills.

Basic computer skills desirable.


EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of 6 months to 1 year working experience with pre-school children, preferably in a Head Start program. Must be at least 18 years old. Must Show proof of Department of Justice clearance to work with children prior to the start of employment. Livescan must be associated with California Community Care Licensing.


EDUCATION:


  • Minimum of 6 completed ECE/CD units in early childhood education or child development

LICENSE/ CREDENTIAL/ PERMIT:


  • CPR/1ST Aid Certificate
  • Valid Driver's License and proof of auto insurance or reliable transportation
  • Proof of Department of Justice clearance to work with children prior to the start of employment.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:


  • T.B. Test within the past six months prior to employment, and every two (2) years thereafter (every 4 years for a chest Xray).
  • Must provide health screen clearance at the time of hire, and every 2 years thereafter.
  • Provide proof of the following immunizations as required
:

Measles, Pertussis (Whooping Cough) and Influenza.

  • COVID vaccination required; must have twodose series of Pfizer or Moderna or a singledose of Johnson & Johnson. Those that need a medical or religious exemption must reach out separately.
  • Representative physical demands of the job include normal vision and hearing, standing for extended periods, sitting for extended periods, kneeling and stooping, manipulating objects with hands, reaching overhead, and occasionally lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:


The working conditions and physical demands of this position will be those that must be met to successfully perform the essential duties of the position.

The physical environment the incumbent will work in is typically a pre-school environment with moderate noise levels that would be expected in that type of work environment.
