- Performs outpatient office visits to include new patients, routine follow up and acute care. Order and interpret lab and radiology results and formulate a medical plan of care according to protocols. Daily medical management of inpatients in collaboration with physician.
- Evaluate and treat acute and chronic headache patients in the office with the performance of procedures including: "BoTox, suboccipital nerve blocks, trigger point injections, sphenopalatine blocks among other procedures as trained by neurology providers.
- Coordinate patient care and follow-up for Neurology patients on the Neurology service
- Sees and evaluate new patients and completes neurology consultations in collaboration with physician
- Presents patient to physician and assists in formulating a treatment plan, ordering appropriate lab and radiographic studies.
- Evaluate post hospital patients and routine follow up visits
- See same day patients when required
- Triage new and existing patients over the phone
- Return patient phone calls
- Handle prescription refills
- Review ancillary reports with the physicians
- Provide appropriate patient education
- Review Neurology related studies with patients and physicians to formulate a treatment plan
- Review MRI and CT scans with physician to formulate a treatment plan
- Coordinate procedural scheduling to ensure maximum efficiency in physician's schedule
- Performs other functions as required.
- Graduation from a program for physician assistants or nurse practitioner approved by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA) of the American Medical Association, and
- Baccalaureate degree or two (2) years working experience as a Certified Physician Assistant or nurse practitioner.
- One to three years' experience in Neurology preferred.
