Collins Aerospace is seeking a
Principal Specialist, Facilities to implement requisite changes relative to facility or equipment specifications and organization or government restrictions to ensure compliance with the norms.


The position works onsite at our Santa Fe Springs, CA facility.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Participates in prebuilding assessments, such as conceptual cost estimating, rough order of magnitude estimating, feasibility, or energy efficiency, environmental, and sustainability assessments.
  • Inspects or reviews projects to evaluate compliance with building and safety codes or other regulations to ensure a safe workplace.
  • Participates in planning and scheduling facilities maintenance and repair activities to ensure proper functioning of facilities.
  • Participates in crossfunctional teams to ensure building security and safety at multiple sites.
  • Assist with CapEx planning and execution of facility wide projects.
  • Plans, organizes, and schedules activities, which may include maintenance, construction, renovation, and repair of organization facilities, to ensure proper functioning of facilities.
  • Supports and implements Lean manufacturing principles and initiatives.
  • Manages a wide variety of projects using standard project management tools and knowledge.
  • Supports regular preventive maintenance and repairs on manufacturing equipment used in the production process. Reporting any issues found.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems issues independently or under the guidance of Engineering or Facilities Management and facilitate repairs as designated.
  • Take part in root cause evaluations to determine cause and corrective actions of equipment failures.
  • Follow all OSHA, EHS and Corporate safety standards and regulations.
  • Maintains records and logs of daily activities.
  • Occasional travel between 1020%.

Qualifications/Experience Needed:


  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience
  • Minimum 2 years of project management experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior facilities experience in an aerospace or manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Experience troubleshooting PLC's (Allen-Bradley/Siemens) preferred.
  • Delta V experience preferred
  • CAD/CAM experience preferred
  • Project Coordination/Management experience preferred.
  • Experience in manufacturing/industrial machinery maintenance.
