Description

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Advises individual student for class registration each semester, including requests to add, drop, or withdraw from courses, tracking of students' academic progress, enrollment and collaboration with Academic Advisor (AA), the Department of Math, and Computer Science's Director of the Graduate Computer Science Department.
  • Assists the AA in midsemester, during and before registration to ensure that all international students are fully registered and eligible for SEVIS (Student Exchange Visitors Information System) reporting/registration.
  • Manages databases; updating and recording grades, scheduled courses, and degree completion dates for all students to create curriculum projections for upcoming semesters.
  • Provides proactive communications to all new and potential students regarding course information, transfer credits, registration, and academic policies.
  • Oversees the management of students on academic probation/cancelled registration in collaboration with the Student Accounts Director, Peer Mentors and Academic Support Services.
  • Collaborates proactively with stakeholders to prevent future academic and financial matters affecting the students' immigration status.
  • Leverages technology in initiating, implementing departmental policies and processes instrumental to the success of the students in collaboration with the OGE Director and AA.

Typical Qualifications

  • Professional experience as a support professional in the field of international education and/or student affairs (International Student Services/Global Engagement) is preferred.
  • Experience working in or with diverse constituencies.
  • Commitment and enthusiasm about working with international students, academic advising and knowledge of other complex software platforms, CAMS, Canvas and Colleague.
  • Knowledge of general office procedures and practices.
  • Understanding of FERPA and HIPAA Guidelines.
  • Database management knowledge; strong organizational, management skills.
  • Must be a US citizen, legal permanent resident/ Employment Authorization Document of the United States of America.

  • Flexibility and adaptability in an emerging and changing environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage confidential information.
