    Objective:

    As a Sr. Site reliability engineer you are expected to help drive monitoring, notification and support strategies with the engineering team. In this role you will help drive observability and interactions with the IoT team and ensure that applications remain online and perform according to SLA's.

    Responsibilities:

    • Define monitoring requirements and SLA's and help enact them with the engineering team and TPM
    • Excellent communication skills. Must be able to communicate complex technical information concisely.
    • Incorporate SRE principles into applications and services, and implement system design measures to have security, performance, and resiliency.
    • Define notification strategies for production outages
    • Using Service level objectives (SLOs) and Service Level Indicators (SLIs) to measure availability, latency, response time, as well as controlling service reliability with error budgets.
    • Run the production environment by monitoring availability and taking a holistic view of system health and monitoring application performance, capacity testing, and auto-scaling
    • Drive support and release strategies with teams
    • Improve reliability, quality, and time-to-market of our suite of software solutions
    • Document every action so your findings turn into repeatable actions and then into automation
    • Implement emergency response methods, organizing retrospectives with RCA, and managing SRE on-call workloads and reacting to symptoms according to monitoring and escalation when needed.
    • Partner with development teams to improve services through rigorous testing and release procedures
    • Identify significant projects that result in substantial improvements in reliability, cost savings and/or revenue.
    • Influences the product roadmap and works with engineering and product counterparts to influence improved resiliency and reliability of the IoT team products.
    • Proactively work on the efficiency and capacity planning to set clear requirements and reduce the system resources usage
    • Establish the application's or service's gilding principles with appropriate logging and accompanying readiness and liveness probes.
    • Ability to grasp the big picture while paying attention to details, and consider each potential solution in the context of the wider picture to avoid introducing additional issues.

    Qualifications:

    • BS/MS in CS or equivalent is preferred
    • Minimum of 5 years of SRE experience or equivalent
    • Great communication skills and the desire to mentor others (writing & in-person).
    • Solid foundation of software systems engineering fundamentals, like databases, version control, deployment logs, cloud, scaling, common architectural patterns, and API's
    • Ability to work autonomously, think critically, and work well cross-functionally.
    • Eagerness to learn and grow professionally
    • Experience creating runbooks, product readiness review, runbooks and post-mortems documents.
    • Drive, motivation, passion and an exceptional personal work ethic; ability to uphold the highest possible ethical and professional standards.
    • Experience with AWS and related technologies(such as Lambda, Kinesis, API Gateway, SQS)
    • Knowledge of open source solutions such as Grafana, Terraform
    • Knowledge of deployment strategies
    • Experience with release management
    • Knowledge of programming Skills in Python, Java, Ruby, or JavaScript

    The starting salary for this opportunity ranges from $137, $165, Other rewards may include annual bonus eligibility, which is based on company and individual performance, short and long term incentives, and program-specific awards. Sunrun provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
