The Role:
As a Sr.
Buyer you will be responsible for purchase of all or a specific portion of productive and/or non-productive materials, supplies, machinery, tooling and/or services.
Responsible for actively participating in the development of commodity strategy, sourcing/negotiations, global/regional material budget execution, and collaborate with suppliers or internal partners.
The work is of a sophisticated nature involving a considerable amount of initiative, analytical work and judgment.What You'll Do:
Responsible for maintaining sourcing pipeline, benchmarking data, strategy presentations, global budget and on-time metrics
Adhere to corporate and unit purchasing and accounting practices and procedures
Sourcing and Contracting Activities that include, but not limited to: Sourcing event bid strategy & management, Bid analytics, Coordination and alignment of RFQ package components, including Terms & Conditions, SOR, technical documentation, Leadership sourcing recommendation / alignment, and Management of sourcing documentation related to bid events in adherence to the GM Audit Services.
Daily supplier interface activities on all commercial items
Support commercial budget activities
Support logistics supplier management initiatives, including "Strategic Supplier Engagement"
Nurture relationship with strategic suppliers by acting as a focal point for commercial issue resolution
Perform rate management activities including spot buys, rate analysis and supplier requests
Participate in supplier KPI reviews
Additional Job DescriptionYour Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
Minimum 5+ Years Purchasing, Supply Chain, or related experience required
Experience with commodities required
High level of capability to work independently
Highly proficient oral and written communication skills
High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and complex
Interpersonal skills to work effectively with others and ability to collaborate cross-functionally
Negotiation skills
Ability to prioritize assignments/projects and multi-task within restricted time
Capable of interpreting contracts
Demonstrated global business skills
Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Finance, Industrial Engineering, or related field required
Ability to travel
What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
Cost analysis, or manufacturing experience
Automotive industry experience
Knowledge of materials management
Capable of interpreting market data
Able to read blueprints and to understand basic engineering documents
Solid knowledge of contract law and its applications regarding purchasing processes
