Trust Fund positions are unique to the Smithsonian.

They are paid for from a variety of sources, including the Smithsonian endowment, revenue from our business activities, donations, grants and contracts.

Trust employees are not part of the civil service, nor does trust fund employment lead to Federal status.

The salary ranges for trust positions are generally the same as for federal positions and in many cases trust and federal employees work side by side.

OVERVIEW:

***The Smithsonian's National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute (NZCBI) is a leader in the conservation, care, exhibition, and research of wildlife and habitats. NZCBI's employees in the nation's capital, Virginia, and worldwide and as part of the Smithsonian make it prominent in national and international affairs involving conservation, zoos, wildlife, public outreach, and biological research.

This position is located at NZCBI Headquarters 3001 Connecticut Avenue NW Washington DC 2008. It is accessible via mass transit, and onsite employee parking is currently available at no cost.

Hybrid Telework Schedule Eligible, however, a minimum of 3-days onsite per week is required due to the nature of the position.

Additionally, there is a requirement for this position to regularly visit NZCBI's Conservation Biology Institute campus located in Front Royal, VA.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • The Revenue Generation Coordinator serves as a liaison for the Associate Director of Business, Innovation, and Technology, the Deputy Director, and the Director of NZCBI on issues surrounding managed revenuegenerating programs and interactions with outside agencies, such as Smithsonian Enterprises. Develops business case analyses for new revenue opportunities with an eye towards providing decisionquality information to leaders to make the best business decisions. Provides regular financial reporting and revenue projections to the Associate Director of Business, Innovation, and Technology.
  • Provides insight into the revenue processes at NZCBI, ensuring tight fiscal controls are in place. Provides financial projections for all revenue activities, strategically tracks incoming funds, and manages longterm financial planning for revenue activities. Plans and initiates a comprehensive evaluation system for the review and analysis of proposed costs, program development and performance.
  • Develops strategies to increase revenue opportunities at NZCBI to include both short
- and long-range planning and propose them to leadership for approval. Develops and recommends strategies that draw increased visitors ship and encourage visitor participation in the full range of experiences, opportunities, and amenities with an eye towards increasing overall revenue.

  • Works in partnership with Smithsonian Enterprises on activities of mutual interest, assessing the longterm fiscal viability of activities and working to improve the financial standing of NZCBI.
  • Provides administrative and program management support involving oversight of programs to integrate new revenue opportunities, functions, processes, and operations into NZCBI. Develops detailed plans, tasks, milestone dates, and schedules to ensure proper sequencing of events and tracking of progress and costs throughout the life cycle of the program. Review programs to determine how they can be accomplished with the least disruption to workers and mission operations. Manages short
- and long-range planning activities that include multi-year work plans that are the products of subordinate organizational projects/programs.

  • Recommends to leadership program objectives and units of measure for determining when objectives have been met. Makes recommendations for actions when adjustments or a different course of action is necessary. Takes appropriate actions necessary
