    Flavor Creation Intern
    Department: R&D, Flavors
    Location: Carol Stream, IL
    Type: 12 Week Internship
    Summary:
    Work under the direction and supervision of the Flavorist to conduct daily project work and other laboratory duties as needed. Plan, organize, and complete a 12-week flavors project. The goal of the summer project is aligned with 2026 business strategy, and conducted in tandem with other daily laboratory duties. The Flavor creation intern will present the final deliverable to the Flavors' team and management at the end of the 12-week term.
    Duties would include, but not be limited to, the following:
    • Compound flavors on the bench.
    • Assist with operational scale-up of flavor formulations.
    • Contribute to weekly chemical evaluations.
    • Assist with raw material qualifications.
    • Assist with the organization of the lab.
    • Conduct exploratory research as guided by the Flavorist.
    • Clean used glassware daily.
    • Attend supplier presentations to learn the different ingredient categories and interact with vendors.
    • Adhere to good laboratory practices (GLP). Wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE) while working at the bench. Comply with occupational safety and health standards issued under OSHA and follow all rules, regulations, and procedures established by the company to ensure that their actions do not adversely affect the health and safety of themselves or others.
    Expected outcome of internship:
    To provide University students with industry experience in Flavor/Food development. To successfully complete the 12-week summer project and to identify talent for future employment opportunities at Prinova.
    Qualifications:
    To perform this job successfully, an individual must satisfactorily perform each essential duty. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.     • Expected graduation of December 2026 or May 2027 from a Food Science, Chemistry, Nutrition, or related technical science degree.
    • Flavor research or laboratory experience is highly preferred.
    • The candidate must not have any known food allergies or food intolerances that would put them at risk of injury or prevent them from fulfilling the requirements of the role.
    • Experience using Microsoft software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    • Excellent attention to detail.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to taste and work with foods and food ingredients that may contain allergens.
    • Self-motivated with strong organization and time management skills.
    • Have the ability to work successfully with coworkers and independently.
    • Be able to multitask as needed.
    • Be an active and creative problem solver.
    • Have the ability to adapt to a change in direction and priority in a fast-paced environment.
