Lineworker First Class:


EDUCATION
A high school graduate or equivalent preferred. Additional schooling in electricity, lineworker's training, technical school or mathematics is desired.
EXPERIENCE


Must have a minimum of four (4) years experience in utility line construction, maintenance, and operations on multiphase systems, both overhead and underground preferred.

After October 1, 1988, will be required to satisfactorily complete a Lineworker Training Program designed by the Cooperative unless already qualified as a First Class Lineworker.

Must be certified in rubber glove methods of performing line work.
JOB KNOWLEDGE
Ability to complete forms and reports and work without supervision.

Must possess a working knowledge of the construction, maintenance and operations of overhead and underground distribution lines including metering, transformers, voltage regulators, oil and electronic reclosers and capacitors.

Must be able to read schematic drawings and instruction manuals. Additional knowledge and skill in performing hot line work with Hot sticks desirable.
ABILITIES


Should be skilled in the areas of organizing, planning, directing supervising and possess an in-depth conceptual and working knowledge of utility regulations as required by state and federal agencies.

Must be an effective communicator. Must be proficient in operations of line vehicles and equipment. This position must hold a valid CDL Class A Driver's license. This position must hold or obtain a valid NH Commercial Boating license within one year of employment. Basic computer knowledge and skills required. Mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity is necessary.

The job requires occasional lifting and carrying of heavy objects and routine physical activities and ability to climb and work on poles & structures.


WORKING CONDITIONS
Must work inside and outside, sometimes under adverse weather conditions and long hours.

On call and overtime is required with occasional overnight travel to attend training sessions or to assist other utilities during major storms is required.

All Lineworkers available to take call, shall be required to reside within 30 minutes of their designated workplace under light traffic conditions.

Assistance with power restoration efforts is required of all employees.

It may be required during regular business hours that employees be assigned functions to support power restoration and for some employees that may be different from their normal duties.

In addition, such assistance may require working nights, weekends and holidays which may involve considerable extra hours.

In order to meet this working condition, all employees are required to provide a personal phone number where they may be reached after hours.

This number will only be used for internal purposes.


APPRENTICE LINEWORKER:


EDUCATION

Experience in utility line construction, general construction, electrical, communication, maintenance, and operations on multiphase systems, both overhead and underground preferred (prior education and experience may be assessed and credited).

After October 1, 1988, will be required to satisfactorily complete a four
- year Lineworker Training Program designed by the Cooperative unless already qualified.
JOB KNOWLEDGE


A working knowledge of the construction, maintenance and operations of overhead and underground distribution lines including metering, transformers, voltage regulators, oil and electronic reclosers and capacitors a plus.

Must be able to read schematic drawings and instruction manuals.

Must attain and maintain Certification in CPR/first-aid, Pole-top Rescue and OSHA 10 -hour Construction Safety Training.
