    Description

    Job Title: Contract Specialist at UIC Purchasing and Contract Management

    As a Contract Specialist at UIC Purchasing and Contract Management, you will be responsible for the following:

    • Assist client departments in processing and reviewing template contract documents, ensuring best interests align with the University standards and legal requirements.
    • Provide contracts support, investigate and troubleshoot contract-related problems, and liaise with departmental personnel.
    • Exercise knowledge of contract and procurement law, rules, policies, and practices.
    • Offer advice on efficient contracting processes and compile contract documents supporting various requests.
    • Coordinate requirements to enhance contracting processes efficiency.
    • Participate in professional development activities to expand knowledge and stay updated.
    • Represent UIC Purchasing and Contract Management in university committees related to contracts and procurement.
    • Act as a liaison with other contract specialists within the university and State.
    • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications Required:

    • Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, or related field.
    • Two (2) years of professional business, financial, or managerial work experience. (Note: A Master's Degree in a relevant area may substitute for one year of work experience.)

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Knowledge of State of Illinois Procurement laws and University procedures.
    • Understanding of contract law and negotiation methods.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Ability to interpret and apply regulatory material related to procurement.
    • Strong problem-solving skills.
    • Effective communication and negotiation abilities.
    • Skill in preparing formal documents and reports.
    • Ability to establish and maintain relationships with various stakeholders.
    • Capacity to work independently and as part of a team.
