Director, Accounts Payable - Chicago, United States - Green Thumb
Description
The Role:
This is a hybrid position that requires onsite work 2-3 days per week.
Responsibilities:
- Directs the daily accounting operations with a heavy focus on the Accounts Payable team supporting the financial close process activities in accordance with GAAP and company policy
- Manages and directs the core operations of the Accounts Payable department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives
- Assesses productivity of existing shared service functions and identifies opportunities to enhance value
- Supports the development and refinement of accounting systems and related controls
- Ensures a proper system of internal controls is established and maintained
- Effectively communicates and collaborates cross functionally to ensure proper workflow and adherence to standard operating procedures and policies
- Supports the external audit and review process as needed
- Effectively communicates and collaborates cross functionally to assess and identify business and operational improvement opportunities along with implementing in an efficient and effective manner
- Mentors, coaches, and develops employees through orientation, training, goal setting and communication while ensuring team engagement and morale
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and 10+ years of related experience
- CPA preferred
- 7+ years of direct management experience
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP accounting principles and internal control procedures and compliance
- Highly motivated, selfdirected, innovative and able to work independently or among teams with keen judgement, common sense and resourcefulness
- Adapts and thrives in a demanding, fastpaced environment
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills (verbal, nonverbal, written), with the ability to build relationships at all levels, both internally and externally
- Possesses a high level of critical thinking and attention to detail and accuracy
- Operates with a high level of professionalism and integrity, including dealing with confidential information
- Adaptive problem solver who effectively navigates change and ambiguity; decides and acts without having the picture totally defined; appropriately changes strategy in response to new information
