Position SummarySurplus line taxes are a conglomerate of legal, accounting, and public relations knowledge. There are several duties a Surplus Lines Tax Associate must perform to succeed in their role.
The Surplus Lines Tax Associate position involves:
Reconciliation of surplus lines tax transactions
Knowledge of required documents needed for filing and client records
Work with diverse personalities and build relationships with producers, account managers, state insurance regulators, and stamping offices
Work with regional licensing team
Responsibilities:
Provide assistance to producers and account managers regarding tax rates, affidavits, and home state designation
Submit required documents to states to facilitate timely filings
Coordinate payment of taxes and related fees
Assist in the development and maintenance of surplus lines processes and procedures
Assist in reading and interpreting state surplus lines related administrative code
Qualifications:
Two years' work experience in the insurance industry is preferred
Experience with Applied Systems (EPIC) is preferred
Strong problem solving abilities
Strong desire to learn and foster a community of compliance
Ability to compile, organize, and analyze data
Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work activities independently
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong attention to detail
