General Description
The Patient Account Specialist/Front Desk Admin is responsible for performing a variety of clerical and administrative duties within the practice.
They will support practice growth and must work effectively with Physician, staff, patients, community physician offices and clinic resource agencies.
Exercise self initiative, independent judgement, decision-making and problem solving in the best interest of the patient and clinic.Duties and Responsibilities
The ideal medical receptionist will be an experienced, dynamic individual who is outgoing, positive, friendly and self motivated
The primary requirements are:
- Ensuring all patients, visitors and medical professionals entering the clinic feel comfortable and welcomed. You will be the one welcoming all patients into the clinic.
- Able to multi task and handle multiple patients and tasks in a professional manner.
- Actively engaging all inquiries and following through with all potential leads and referral sources.
- Motivation to expand the new practice.
- Ability to be the sole front staff in more than one practice location: Naperville, Geneva and Sycamore. One Saturday morning, once a month, in our Naperville location is required. One evening every other week in Naperville.
- A team player who works collaboratively with all staff in all locations.
- Strict adherence to patient medical record confidentiality; State, Federal and HIPAA laws and guidelines.
- Maintaining the waiting area in a neat and orderly manner.
- Chart preparation for daily patient appointments/procedures.
- Scheduling all patient visits, including accommodating requests for rescheduled appointments, following up with patients when appointments are missed.
- Working proficiently with electronic medical records (EMR ); both clinics currently use Athena Health.
- Communicating billing practices, balances and fees with patients. Reviewing financial waivers with patients.
- Collect patient balances.
- Occasionally working with other clinic staff to market the practices (i.e. attending health fairs, visiting established and new referral sources, preparing materials for events).
Experience, at minimum three years
- Experience and confidence with the medical receptionist responsibilities listed above.
- Experience handling various insurance related matters documentation and phone calls).
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR).
- Experience with active marketing of a medical practice.
- Spanish language proficiency preferred/Bilingual

At minimum Associates Degree
