***The Dining Room Steward/Server is a member of the Dining and Food Services team. (*Please note this is a buffet style dining room atmosphere in which individuals serve themselves).


This role is responsible for ensuring that our buffets are well stocked while offering knowledgeable, friendly service to all guests, staff, and volunteers.

They ensure Food Services' dining and cooking wares, and equipment are clean and sanitary. They contribute to keeping the kitchen safe and well stocked to meet kitchen staff and guest needs.


ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Restocks all dishware and silverware during service while ensuring everything is clean.
  • Maintains dining areas (daily cleaning, stocking, and general maintenance).
  • Maintains communication during service with cooks' team to ensure there is a continuous supply of food for buffet line.
  • Cleaning all dishes and kitchen wares in prescribed manner to ensure sanitation standards are achieved.
  • Load, operate and unload commercial dishwasher in accordance with established safe operating standards. Wash cooking wares and other items by hand as needed to ensure sanitation.
  • Maintains kitchen areas (daily sweeping and mopping and removal of all the garbage, recycling, and compost out after every shift).
  • Complies with Massachusetts Food Code and HACCP protocol; complies with all department, local, state, and federal food safety regulations.
  • Operates all equipment according to the manufacturer's directions with emphasis given to safety guidelines. Notifies Lead Dining Room Supervisor of any malfunction, damage, or loss of equipment.
  • Dispose of food, containers, and other matter in manner that achieves recycling and other green initiatives of the Food Services department.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by management.

MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, carry 50 pounds, and push and pull 95 pounds of force.
  • Ability to stand/walk on hard floors for long periods of time.
  • Knowledge of—or a willingness to learn—general food service operations and health codes.
