Johns Hopkins University (JHU) School of Medicine (SOM) is on the lookout for an Associate Director, Research Operations who will play a key role in supporting operations, standardizing practices, and ensuring alignment for optimal performance. This position requires a solid grasp of various operational aspects within the School of Medicine, including research administration, finance, and student-related operations.

Reporting directly to the Executive Director of Research Finance, this role demands strong leadership skills to effectively prioritize tasks, foster collaboration, and make sound decisions. The ideal candidate should possess qualities like judgment, creativity, adaptability, and initiative.

The Associate Director must exhibit top-notch work quality, flexibility to adapt to changing priorities, and a commitment to service excellence, positivity, and confidentiality.

Responsibilities entail supporting leadership in managing operational initiatives, identifying improvement opportunities, conducting long-term planning, and coordinating solutions and projects. The role involves navigating complex challenges, optimizing resources efficiently, and enhancing operational processes.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with the Executive Director to address key issues, overseeing and coordinating diverse teams.
  • Evaluates and enhances processes, policies, and practices through thorough research and collaboration.
  • Conducts benchmarking activities to implement best practices, develops standard procedures, and ensures policy compliance.
  • Identifies and manages risks, resolves critical issues, and promotes a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Establishes strong partnerships, provides change management oversight, and leads impactful projects.
  • Manages special projects independently, tracks progress, and represents SOM Research Finance.
