Job Summary


The Director of Record to Report-Americas, under mínimal supervision, is responsible for directing the Minerals Technologies accounting activities for the North American and Latin American operations to ensure that accurate and timely financial data, in accordance with GAAP, is available to the business managers.


Responsibilities:


Primary Duties and Responsibilities
**_
Accounting _**- Manage and develop staff to ensure that accurate and current financial information is available to management according to set timelines

  • Coordinate the monthend, quarterend, and yearend closing of the North American and Latin American legal ledgers
  • Maintain GL integrity and ensure compliance with GAAP
  • Review corporate legal Balance Sheet accounts to ensure they are accurately stated in accordance with MTI Corporate Accounting Policies
  • Ensure that SOX documentation is maintained for all North American and Latin American locations
  • Ensure that all North American and Latin American balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly, and variances are addressed in a timely manner
  • Ensure that data from domestic ledgers is accurately interfaced to Hyperion at period end
  • Ensure that necessary affiliate charges and receipts are properly coordinated and reconciled
  • Ensure that international transactions are properly identified and billed as necessary for tax purposes
  • Evaluate transactional workflows to ensure system and process integrity
  • Drive continuous improvement and standardization in the accounting area

Fixed Assets / Capital Projects_**- Monitor capital project spending to ensure levels are within approved limits and accurately classified

  • Ensure all Project activity is conducted on a timely basis according to MTI corporate policy i.e., project creation, transfers, adjustments, etc.
  • Ensure all Fixed Asset activity is conducted on a timely basis according to MTI corporate policy i.e., additions, disposals, transfers, etc.
  • Ensure that Fixed Asset accounting is GAAP compliant, and balances are properly stated at period end

Budgeting_**- Responsible for coordination and analysis of corporate RU department Plans and Forecasts i.e., Executive, Finance, Legal, HR, Tax, Treasury, Strategic Planning, Internal Audit, IT, Credit & Collections, AP, Billing, Accounting, and Travel

  • Responsible for coordination and distribution of annual Plans for centralized Lehigh Valley departments i.e. Supply Chain, Engineering, Analytical, and Facilities
  • Responsible for preparing and distributing the domestic depreciation Plans and forecasts

Reporting_**- Review domestic balance sheet for accuracy and provide explanations for balance fluctuations as necessary

  • Coordinate preparation of quarterly SEC worksheets for Corporate for North American and Latin American locations
  • Coordinate preparation and review annual Tax Package worksheets for Corporate for North American and Latin American locations
  • Prepare monthly decision management reports for executive management
  • Prepare various MTI expense trend schedules and charts for corporate finance management
  • Coordinate preparation of monthly Global Business Services report for corporate finance management
  • Prepare various census reports as necessary
  • Prepare various presentations for corporate finance management

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for MTI North American travel policy and program administration
  • Responsible for preparation of North American real estate and property tax returns
  • Evaluate internal control structure to maintain compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley
  • Interact with internal and external auditors as necessary
  • Perform special projects as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
