Description
The Behavioral Health Technician will provide care and services at the detox and residential levels of care. They will help the Health Care Practitioner and LVNs by carrying out patients' treatment plans.

The Behavioral Health Technician will be responsible to provide safe, effective, and efficient implementation of direct care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and standards of care.


Responsibilities:


  • Aid in conducting new patient initial assessments and providing orientation to new patients
  • Assess and document patients' needs and care, collaborating with other staff to manage patient care
  • Observe medications and treatments as ordered by the consulting physician, maintaining accurate records as required according to company policies and procedures
  • Ensure infection control practices and reporting procedures are implemented and maintained
  • Respond to emergencies and initiate action as outlined in company policies and procedures
  • Perform basic health screenings, vital signs, and first aid procedures, as necessary, according to company guidelines
  • Conduct urinalysis test collection according to company policies and procedures
  • Maintain communication with LVNs, supervisor, Health Care Practitioner, and/or other key staff regarding patient care
  • Support program staff with resident deescalation and crisis management in a manner which fully supports the needs of the resident
  • Ensure patient compliance with facility rules and guidelines
  • Occasionally drive clients to groups/meetings and/or drive clients from/to the airport.
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:


  • High school diploma
  • One years' experience in the substance abuse field
  • Registered or Certified with a DHCS approved provider
  • A current valid CA driver's license is required
  • Submission of DMV driving record is required

  • Knowledge of HIPAA
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to cultural diversity and sensitivity
  • Knowledge of detoxification protocol and related care including symptoms and medications (including CIWA and COWS)
  • Ability to accurately record information and prepare reports
  • Ability to navigate the company's EHR system

Working Conditions:
Work is performed in an office or other environmentally controlled room. Work may expose incumbent to contagious or infectious diseases, dangerous and volatile situations, or possible bodily injury.
