Job Description:

Summary:

Essential Functions:

  • Assists the Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor in completing manufacturers recall and warranty work for the university shuttle bus and vehicle fleet.
  • Maintains communications with shuttle operations supervisors regarding shuttle buses' condition, maintenance schedules, and emergency repairs to ensure on-time schedules.
  • Creates, plans, assigns, and distributes work orders using FM CMMS AIM; inputs maintenance data and queries the system for reporting and analysis.
  • Provides leadership in weather-related emergency operations, ensuring vehicles are ready and operating efficiently during winter conditions.
  • Organizes technical training for FM staff and stays updated on automotive technology and safety compliance.

Supervisory Responsibility:

4 FTE's:

  • Lead Mechanic (1).
  • Fleet Equipment Mechanic (2).
  • VM Assistant (1).

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • 40 hours/week. Nonexempt. Essential staff availability during nights, weekends, university closures, and weather emergencies.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with 5 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent with automotive certifications and specialization in AC/Transmission repairs.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

  • Proven track record in repair and maintenance of Cummins diesel engine and new diesel emission technology.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, Master Technician level ASE, valid driver's license, CDL or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire, DC Class 7B license.
