Description

The Education & Marketing Associate will work directly with DPW's Office of Communications to expand educational opportunities and resources to Baltimore City residents, with a special emphasis on low-income and underrepresented communities.


This position will:
(1) conduct research of and establish partnerships with local organizations, businesses, and consultants to compile an active agency list of educational partners and volunteers to boost support and provide valuable resources, (2) design youth engagement model/ marketing strategies to educate youth ages about our waterways, solid waste and health and safety, (3) support the implementation of the City's Eco-Warriors of the Future Schools Competition and Eco-Ambassadors program.


This VISTA member will develop goals and performance metrics to monitor, track, and measure effectiveness of education and volunteerism initiatives.

This VISTA member will engage low-income communities to better utilize DPW services by creating a variety of educational tools (i.e. handouts, surveys, curriculum) that promote community awareness, volunteerism, youth development and apprenticeship programs, as well as new DPW activities and projects.

  • Desired Skills and Qualifications: Will require a high school diploma, Bachelor's degree or some college preferred and/or a minimum of 3 years of work experience in education, research and data collection, computer graphics, customer service, social media marketing and a strong commitment to excellence and economic empowerment and opportunity. Strong teamwork capabilities; strong communication and organizational skills; strong writing and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with technology.
  • Note that this is a
    volunteer position for the job site. VISTA members are essentially federal employees. The opportunity does provide job experience in the relevant fields at the job site and also comes with a biweekly living allowance of about $ Other benefits of the position include a choice of an additional cash stipend or the Segal AmeriCorps Education Award which can be used towards student loans or other educational expenses such as tuition, books, etc. More information about benefits is posted on the AmeriCorps VISTA website.
  • Work will be fulltime (Monday
  • Friday, 8:30am4:30pm) for 12 months. Your work schedule is hybrid.
*Applicants must be 18 years or older, have at least a high school diploma or equivalent, must be able to pass a criminal history check, and be either a U.S. Citizen; US National, US Lawful Resident (Green Card Status), or persons legally residing within a state.

$1,755.32 per month
