Job Description

A well established and rapidly growing, industry leading manufacturer of prototype plastic and metal parts, is seeking a highly motivated Tooling and Design Technician to join our dynamic team in Montrose, MN. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the design and development of innovative tooling solutions in a collaborative and supportive work environment.

Responsibilities:

Utilize CAD software (such as Creo, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or SpaceClaim) to design prototype and production foundry patterns and coreboxes.
- Set up and operate CNC machines to machine tooling components with precision and accuracy.
- Assemble tooling components and collaborate with the finishing department to ensure completion according to specifications.
- Apply knowledge of molding and coring concepts, including draft, parting, cores, gating, etc.
- Work with CAM software (such as PowerMill, Fusion 360, or MasterCam) to generate toolpaths for machining operations.
- Utilize experience with Haas and/or Milltronics mills to achieve optimal machining results.
- Demonstrate self-motivation and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team lead.
- Maintain organization and multitask effectively to meet project deadlines.
- Apply strong problem-solving skills to address design and manufacturing challenges.

Qualifications:

Min 3 years of experience as a Tooling and Design/ Tooling Designer, using metal mold processes (sand casting, die casting, forging, extrusion) is a must
-2 year Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering Technology (preferred), or 3 years of experience gained through on-the-job instruction, or apprenticeship.
- Proficiency in CAD software such as Creo, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or SpaceClaim.
- Experience with CAM software including PowerMill, Fusion 360, or MasterCam.
- Familiarity with Haas and/or Milltronics mills.
- Strong knowledge of molding and coring concepts.
