The Department of Marine in Coastal Sciences (DMCS) within the School of Environmental & Biological Sciences (SEBS) at Rutgers, The State University, is seeking a fulltime Postdoctoral Associate position in Ocean-Glacier Interactions.
The Postdoctoral Associate will work on elements of an NSFfunded project: "

GLACIOME:

Developing a comprehensive model of the coupled glacier-ocean-mélange system." This project is a multi-institution collaboration to understand the interaction of iceberg mélange in front of glaciers in Greenland with glaciers and the ocean beneath.

The Postdoctoral Associate will focus on interactions between the ice mélange and ocean circulation. This will involve developing code for a coupling scheme between an ocean model (MITgcm) and a continuum mélange model. This work will contribute towards a larger effort of developing a comprehensive modelling framework for studying ocean-glacier-mélange interactions.

This position is for one year with the possibility of a reappointment for a 2nd year based on available funding and satisfactory progress.

This position is anticipated to be filled by August 2024.

Certifications/Licenses

Must have a PhD prior to start date of August 2024.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Must have experience in the following:
Working with ice sheet, glacier, or ice mélange models
Testing numerical models against field data
High Performance Computing (HPC) resources and GIT repositories
Prior experience in computer science and/or software development.
