Description

The
Shipping & Receiving Technician is responsible for shipping and receiving customer and vendor parts; including keeping accurate records, packaging, and weighing items, printing shipping labels and postage, inspecting goods received for damage, and distributing products to other departments.

The Shipping and Receiving Technician follows written procedures, safely operates loading equipment, and ensures customer orders are protected from damage in transit.

How You Will Rock The Role

Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Examine shipment contents and compare with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy.
  • Confer or correspond with establishment representatives to
rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, or nonconformance to
specifications.

  • Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space
availability, damages, or discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, or
recordkeeping purposes.

  • Requisition and store shipping materials and supplies to
maintain inventory of stock.

  • Prepare documents, such as work orders, bills of lading, or
shipping orders, to route materials.

  • Contact carrier representatives to make arrangements or to issue
instructions for shipping and delivery of materials.

  • Determine shipping methods, routes, or rates for materials to be
shipped.

  • Pack orders to prevent damage during shipment; wrap protective
material around each item, and pack the items in boxes, crates and/or other
shipping containers.

  • Prepare shipment documents; ensure quantities, destination/
routing and values/ insurance are accurate.

  • Collect and verify all shipping documents against any received
shipments; follow company receiving process proficiently and thoroughly.

  • Sort, count, package, label, insure, unpack, and/or log items
which are shipped or received.

  • Inspect shipments for damage or defects; record any discrepancies
and notify supervisor and/or Quality personnel.

  • Operate dolly, pallet jack, and/or forklift in loading and
unloading supplies and equipment.

  • Operate company vehicle(s) to pick up and deliver shipments.
  • Assist shipping & receiving supervisor with routine
maintenance of equipment, vehicles, and shipping area.


Talents and Credentials:


  • High school graduate or GED.
  • Minimum 1+ years shipping & receiving related experience; preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Forklift Driver Certification.
  • Must be able to speak, read and write in English; able to give and receive clarification and respond to questions.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of light equipment operation and/or maintenance.
  • Knowledge of commercial shipping methods/procedures.
  • Strong time management and problemsolving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks while working in a face paced environment.
  • Ability to travel locally (up to 50+ miles) to pick up & deliver orders from customers & suppliers.
  • Ability to frequently lift, push, pull, carry, and move up to 50 pounds without assistance.
