JOB SUMMARY
The role of electrical product assembler is within our final assembly department.

This position involves connecting internal assembly to external assembly and adding external components such as bushings and radiators.

Employees in this role must develop skills in Tank Equipment, Wiring, Conduit, Drop-in, and Encasement. They may also be responsible for performing repairs on units, parts, or incoming materials.


PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Receive assignments and instructions from supervisors both verbally and in writing. Follow drawings, Bill of Materials, and established manufacturing procedures. Coordinate and communicate with supervision and team leads.
  • Understand and follow schedules and work flow requirements.
  • Obtain materials from storage areas and assemble kits with hardware and parts.
  • Follow guidelines set forth by Engineering Instructions and Manufacturing Procedures.
  • Read blueprints and assemble components per provided drawings and standards.
  • Inspect assemblies, products, processes, and materials for conformance to design criteria, specifications, and inspection procedures.
  • Maintain clean and orderly tools, equipment, and work area. Perform visual checks on equipment to ensure normal operation.
  • Check lifts and cranes before use, including crane cables and limit switches.
  • Conduct minor equipment repairs and machine maintenance.
  • Accurately use the shop floor labor collection system. Record work operations appropriately.
  • Document maintenance work orders for damaged tooling and equipment when needed.
  • Utilize computer systems to review procedures, drawings, nonconformances, etc.
  • Assist in other departments when required.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and company policies.
  • Conduct repair work on oily components inside and outside the tank as necessary.
  • Receive training on 5S principles and keep tools, equipment, and work area orderly.
  • Aid in training new operators.
  • Investigate potential and actual nonconformances and suggest corrective actions.
  • May work in Med Power, Large Power, or EHV product lines.
  • Perform appropriate welding techniques (optional).
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Use various tools including portable scaffold and steps, ladders, saws, vacuum cleaners, jacks, threading machines, crimpers, grinders, drills, wrenches, mallets, cranes, chains, slings, and more.
  • Operate machines such as wire crimpers, heat guns, air pallets, punches, sanders, band saws, grinders, welders, cutters, and related equipment.
  • Work with materials like tanks, transformers, gear assemblies, gauges, cabinets, housings, bushings, mechanisms, steel rods, and nitrogen, among others.
  • Perform tasks at heights up to 15' or higher.
  • Engage in activities ranging from ground level work to tasks in, on top of, and around transformer tanks.
  • Concentrate mentally and visually on operations to meet engineering and quality requirements.
  • Demonstrate hand-eye coordination for welding tasks meeting specific specifications.
  • Access and work in confined spaces, including 1824" manhole access.
