Summary:
Shore Physicians Group is recruiting an experienced surgical physician assistant/nurse practitioner with Orthopaedic experience to join our growing, collaborative provider team.
Our physician assistants/nurse practitioners are an integral part of our team and in this position you will provide comprehensive patient care in the hospital and outpatient office setting.
Responsibilities:
- Perform all duties under the direction and supervision of physicians(s) of the department and in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- First assist surgical cases enhancing the efficiency, continuity, and quality of surgical care in the operating room.
- Serve as a resource and team leader during clinical shifts to ensure the smooth flow of patient processing, treatment and discharge including patient triaging.
- Perform inhospital surgery consultations.
- Perform and assist with bedside procedures.
- Perform daily patient rounds.
- Respond to and manage acute care needs of hospitalized Orthopaedic patients.
- Initiate, document, and communicate the plan of care and follow up to ensure complete screening and preparation of patients.
- Write orders for medications, laboratory work, and diagnostic tests.
- Interpret laboratory and test results.
- Confer with attending physicians, residents, nursing staff, and/or other care providers to ensure optimum quality of patient care.
- Upon discharge, notate discharge summary, including any prescriptions and/or referrals
- Inform patients of the necessary postdischarge care instructions.
- Participate in developing, reviewing, and revising medical/surgical protocols.
- Participate in training of staff and students.
- Other duties as assigned.
License/Certification/Registration Requirements:
- PA: Graduate of a Physician Assistants program with current license in the state of New Jersey
- APN: Graduate from a school of nursing with current New Jersey license for Advanced Practice Nursing and a Master's degree in Nursing
Experience:
- Strongly prefer two years PA/APN Orthopaedic surgery experience
