The GFA Consulting Group GmbH (GFA) is the general contractor for the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) for the Bilateral Cooperation Program (BKP) with global activities and maintains an office in Berlin for this purpose.


The program supports the development of nutrition, agriculture, and consumer health protection in foreign countries through bilateral projects.

An important principle of project work is "partnership cooperation for mutual benefit", with the establishment and maintenance of political and economic relationships playing a special role.

The project formats include areas such as agricultural policy and technical dialogues, demonstration and training projects, and association cooperation.

In 2014, the BMEL program - International Sustainable Forest Management - was also established, for which GFA was selected as the general contractor.

Currently, projects are being carried out in countries such as Ukraine, Turkey, the People's Republic of China, India, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, the African Union, Ethiopia, Morocco, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Colombia, Zambia, and Thailand.

Other countries are also being planned.

GFA develops project concepts for BMEL, awards projects - mostly through public tenders - to project implementers (consulting firms, associations, institutions), and is responsible for technical and financial monitoring as well as project evaluation.
