    Why this role matters

    The Corporate Marketing Shared Services center of marketing excellence oversees development, planning and management of the Corporate Marketing standards including brand, content and events that support customer, industry and employee engagements. We analyze and make strategic recommendations on how the Vonage brand, and its supporting content is represented in live, virtual, and hybrid event presence and programs. As a part of our next phase of growth, Vonage seeks to advance our position as the leading provider of communications engagement solutions to work closely with our extended marketing teams to ensure our legal and compliance processes align with Corporate policies. The Director of Corporate Marketing Compliance will have a passion for combining compliance processes with operational rigor for finite outcomes.

    You live in a deadline driven world and are a well-rounded marketer and strategic thinker with a proven track record of successfully leading, managing and implementing best in class compliance policies that span the various departments of marketing. The ideal candidate is a highly collaborative teammate who has experience in project management, building governance models to operationalize compliance strategies, and a passion for building templated processes and programs with data-driven decision-making.

    As a critical member of the team reporting to the Vice President of Brand, Content and Event Marketing, your primary function is ensuring marketing compliance with all applicable laws and regulatory requirements across all Marketing channels. This position is responsible for monitoring changes in the business environment to anticipate, identify, and assess risk issues while establishing effective controls for all marketing, brand and communications initiatives. In addition, this position will oversee and directly manage the day-to-day first-line of defense for vendor management. Working in tandem with other marketing leaders, this position will collaborate and ensure alignment of our compliance processes and policies between internal marketing functions and parent company legal teams. This is a hands-on, individual contributor role (with potential to manage others over time). This person must build trust with executive leadership.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Collaborate with internal and external compliance and marketing partners to ensure that appropriate risk management practices are embedded in day-to-day operations including alignment with the company Trade Compliance Policy.
    • Develop and implement an effective marketing operations compliance program including adherence to all local, state and federal laws and regulations and policies pertaining to corporate marketing, brand, impact and strategy. Plan to include reimagining models for existing programs like sweepstakes, giveaways and hospitality
    • Lead policy and framework support including Communications Policy, Social Media Guidelines, Electronic Resource Acceptable Use Policy, Photo Release Policy, Marketing Framework and Appendices, Hospitality and Gifting, Charitable Relations donations/policy, digital and (TCPA) marketing compliance.
    • Proactively audit processes, practices and documents to identify areas of compliance risk; develop processes that improve department end-user efficiency and enhance overall marketing productivity.
    • In partnership with Legal (where applicable), manage marketing ambassador program
    • Performs first line of risk defense for Marketing and Brand teams by staying informed of each department's third-party vendor relationships and contracts, developing and maintaining an inventory of all active relationships
    • Review marketing and brand communications and plans for regulatory compliance
    • Serve as counsel and subject matter expert to ensure all marketing department staff is fully knowledgeable and briefed in all areas of compliance; as well as ensure overall department compliance activities run smoothly and efficiently
    • Serve as contact to manage known annual audits (Advertising, Incident Reporting, Corporate Governance, Hospitality and Gifting, etc.) Draft audit responses for review/approval, when necessary.
    • The role will work collaboratively in support of initiatives and campaigns to help marketing reach goals in compliance with the website (WCAG compliance), advertising, marketing, trademark and consumer protection laws and best practices.
    • Review and share trends, regulation change, etc. from corporate legal and compliance teams and host trainings/webinars semi-annually; guest speak at team events
    • Create outlines, presentations and other needed materials for marketing leadership teams about compliance activities and updates.
    • Collaborate with internal and external auditors when needed.
    What you will bring
    • Experience leading or managing marketing and related staff.
    • Senior person who will roll up their sleeves and get the job done doing everything from very basic documentation to highly strategic compliance program development.
    • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to lead and manage multiple time-sensitive projects under tight deadlines
    • Advanced understanding of process and policy and excellent writing and communication skills to articulate the guidelines within the marketing department
    • Proven experience in influencing and partnering with cross-functional teams of marketing leaders, legal teams, and subject matter experts
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including writing, speaking and listening.
    What is required for application

    Required
    • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Business, Management, Finance or related field
    • Requires 5 years of experience in risk/compliance; prior marketing experience preferred, legal degree and/or historical experience in the law field encouraged
    • Understanding of marketing compliance and current regulations
    • Strong oral and written communication skills
    • Strong customer service skills
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Prior leadership experience managing global programs
    • Preferred to be near a Vonage Hub (Atlanta, San Fran, NJ, Austin)
    • Senior person with a take charge attitude who will roll up their sleeves and get the job done doing everything from very basic work to highly strategic communications.
