Job Description:


UNDERWRITING TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE (UTA)
The UTA will handle various rating functions and processes in order to support Contract Surety Underwriting. They will review, analyze, prepare rating and book/issue bonds for Contract Surety business.


What YOU will do:


  • Screen transactions to determine proper processing. Refer transactions to underwriters that require their approval, complete transactions directly if within delegated authority limits.
  • Ensure policy transactions are rated, booked, invoiced and issued accurately and meet the corporate time service standards.
  • Report policy data to third party reporting agencies such as the Workers Compensation bureaus and the Department of Motor Vehicles. Resolve criticisms from those reporting agencies to meet internal and external guidelines.
  • Communicate, as needed, with Actuarial, Accounting, Audit, Loss Control and Reinsurance to answer policy questions and resolve issues.
  • Work with system support to test releases when the verification of successful programming involves a review of the production environment.
  • Communicate, as needed, with producers to obtain information required to complete transactions. Contribute to service excellence by answering producer questions in regards to policy status and insurance inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Assist with onboarding of new programs including researching the issuance and booking platforms, filed forms and rates.
  • Maintain proper file documentation on all activities.
  • May pursue industry designations via coursework completed during onthejob training.
  • Participates in training activities and initiatives to develop knowledge base.
  • May participate in projects.

What YOU will bring to C&F:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or 6+ years industry experience required.
  • Experience with surety operations and systems (agency or surety)
  • Detail oriented with the ability to make independent decisions.
  • Ability to follow protocol with an emphasis on quality and customer service.
  • Excellent organizational, prioritizing, and time management skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel.

The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $39,800.00 to a maximum of $90, The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities
