    The AV & Media Tech Manager will support the University's mission to educate Christians who will make a difference in the world for Jesus Christ.


    SUMMARY:

    To provide consultation, design, implementation, and technical support services on a campus-wide basis to faculty and staff as it pertains to audio/visual, media, conference rooms, live/recorded event streaming, and classroom technology.

    The AV & Media Tech Manager will manage the day-to-day operations of the audio-visual/media department, staff, services, and equipment.

    They will provide oversight and training regarding the use and operation of performance systems, including lighting, sound, video, staging/rigging, and A/V systems, as well as support services available in the Psalm Center, conference rooms, classrooms and other on campus event locations.


    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Work closely with the User Services Manager to ensure proper technical coverage and support for events, classes, and meetings.
    • Work closely with the Events Department to provide advice and assistance as needed for internal and hosted events. Plan, prepare, set-up, operate, and clean-up audio and video resource needs for these events.
    • Supervise audio-visual/media department student employees on A/V Technology teams. This includes hiring/firing, evaluating performance, scheduling, and training employees.
    • Manage all aspects of the University's audio-visual/media including lighting, sound, video, staging/rigging, and A/V systems and related technical aspects for Corban.
    • Provide leadership in budget oversight, project management, and new technology assessment.
    • Receive, troubleshoot and respond to problem tickets from faculty, staff and students by email, phone and in person.
    • Train and work with faculty and staff on use of classroom technologies and video conferencing systems.
    • Consult with department heads, faculty, campus services and other appropriate personnel on AV needs in conference room, classrooms, and other shared spaces.
    • Host online live events and manage content recorded during live events or prior recording sessions.
    • Make recommendations and educate faculty on classroom technologies.
    • Conduct troubleshooting and repair activities on equipment and machinery as needed.
    • Provide audio-visual and classroom technology support as needed.
    • Provide audio-visual and conference room technology support as needed.
    • Identify equipment and software requirements as directed.
    • Create/maintain critical and procedural documentation for the University to ensure proper techniques and solutions are documented for future use and reference.
    • Create/maintain equipment inventory and replacement schedule.
    • Understand the systems in use throughout the University and their interrelationships, maintain knowledge of the operations and maintenance needs, and provide problem determination support as problems arise.
    • Work with others within the department in solving problems at both the systems and operations levels.
    • Understand the University's policies and procedures and exercise judgment accordingly.
    • Represent the Information Technology organization and the University to faculty, staff, students and external vendors in a way that reflects well on the University.
    • Maintain knowledge of current/future technologies through continued training/learning opportunities and self-motivation.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Excellent listening, interpersonal and customer service skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to support use of MS Office products, Outlook, and Windows systems.
    • Strong technical expertise, audio-visual skills, and project management.
    • Excellent management and supervising skills.
    • Highly self-motivated and directed.
    • Excellent communication and customer interface/relationship skills, as well as the ability to effectively coordinate and work with other departments and service providers.
    • Use knowledgebase and analytical thinking to work through issues and solve problems.
    • Ability to assist customers over the phone and via computer.
    • Ability to travel when necessary to support remote University locations.
    • Ability to read log files, create reports, and manipulate data.
    • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required.
    • 5 years of related professional experience, specifically as it relates to AV operation, technical direction, video production, and/or academic technology.
    • Experience in creating, tracking, and updating requests in a call center or service desk environment is preferred.

    WORKING CONDITIONS:
    Traditional office environment. This position is a full-time on campus position. Occasional weekend/evening work related to events on campus during non-business hours will be an aspect of the position. Rarely some travel may be required to support remote Campus locations/events.
