    Description

    Job Title: Senior Engineer at Walmart's Advertising Technology Data Team

    Company: Walmart

    There are millions of customers shopping on Walmart websites and in stores daily, and advertising helps bring the best products to our customers. If you want to influence millions of customers on their shopping journeys, we have a role for you in Walmart's Ads Tech Data Team. This team serves as the horizontal data foundation for various applications, building extremely large-scale data sets, processing them using distributed systems, and enriching them with intelligent insights.

    About the Team:
    Walmart's Advertising Technology data team owns and drives the foundational data platform for targeting and measurement systems. They are the custodian of all business data and metrics, ensuring fidelity and completeness while providing interfaces and guidance for all advertising data aspects.

    Responsibilities:

    • Leads the discovery phase of large software engineering projects
    • Works on projects focused on bringing in data from different sources
    • Identifies opportunities to influence high impact problems
    • Partners cross-functionally to understand the data landscape
    • Establishes strategic plans to improve mean time to detect and restore
    • Mentors junior engineers and ensures stability and scalability of the platform
    • Conducts root-cause analysis of complex problems

    Requirements:

    • 5+ years of experience in software development focusing on distributed applications and big data management
    • Proficiency in Scala, Java, Python, spark, HQL, SQL
    • Deep knowledge in Hadoop ecosystem and near real-time stream processing
    • Experience in messaging systems such as Kafka
    • Excellent communication, leadership, analytical-reasoning and problem-solving skills

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Familiarity with public cloud technologies, ETL pipelines, and advertising domain
    • Experience with workflow management systems, enterprise monitoring, and alerting solutions
