Operator - Natural Gas Utility Construction


A Gas Utility Operator's responsibilities include working hand in hand with Foremen and other team members to install gas facilities and other civil infrastructure.

Operators will need to demonstrate strong leadership, initiative, safety mindedness and demonstrate a desire to work in the utility industry.

Equipment will consist of backhoes, excavators, skid steers, loaders and more as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Must be proficient in operating a variety of equipment including but not limited to, backhoes, excavators, loaders, skid steers
  • Hand digging with shovel to find existing utilities
  • Use various hand and power tools throughout various projects
  • Perform tool and vehicle maintenance
  • Load and unload materials and equipment
  • Train workers to promote career growth
  • Follow company policies and procedures
  • Demonstrate Safe practices by leading by example
  • Maintain positive working relationships internally and with external constituents

Education, Skills, Experience Needed

  • Prior experience in gas utility industry highly desired
  • Commitment to doing quality work while putting safety first
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with others
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently
  • NGA Operator Qualifications Highly Desired

Requirements:


  • Valid Driver's license
  • Ability to pass and maintain Operator Qualifications as assigned
  • Ability to pass pre
- and post-employment DOT drug screenings

  • Preemployment medical fitforduty test; hold/obtain DOT medical card
  • Ability to obtain satisfactory results of a background check
  • Ability to Lift 50lbs independently
  • Hand digging as required
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions

Schedule:

  • 10 hour shift
  • 12 hour shift
  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Overtime

Supplemental pay types:

Experience:


  • Natural gas: 2 years (preferred)
  • Heavy equipment operation: 3 years (required)

License/Certification:

  • OSHA 10 (preferred)
  • NGA OQ's (preferred)
