    Cognaize is hiring an Accounting Manager/Controller to join our U.S. team.

    This position reports to the SVP, Finance and Strategy and will be highly visible and critical to the company's growth going forward.

    This person will work across company departments to keep the company on track with important financial milestones.


    What You'll Do:

    • Oversee Accounting Processes: Manage accounting processes across Cognaize; set and enforce policies; monitor budgets and control spend.
    • Recording Daily Financial Transactions: Use accounting software to accurately record purchases, sales, receipts, and payments according to the company's chart of accounts.
    • Managing Revenue Recognition: Implement ASC 606 standards to recognize revenue appropriately, considering conditions, measurement, and timing across various revenue streams.
    • Accrue Expenses: Record expenses when incurred, adhering to accrual accounting principles, including services received but not invoiced and expenses spanning accounting periods.
    • File Sales Tax for New York and Utah: Calculate, report, and file sales tax returns for transactions in New York and Utah, complying with state-specific rates and regulations.
    • Record Payroll: Process payroll transactions, covering salaries, wages, bonuses
    • Categorize Expenses in Divvy and Ramp: Utilize Divvy and Ramp to track and categorize expenses accurately, analyzing spending patterns for proper classification.
    • Manage Bank ACH and Wires: Handle setup and authorization of ACH and wire transfers, ensuring accuracy and recording in the accounting system.
    • Manage fixed assets in US: Maintain records and depreciation schedules for fixed assets
    • Assist in cash management: Monitor money market / CD accounts and assist in cash management activities
    • Reporting to stakeholders: Provide support in reporting to senior management and stakeholders/investors; work with outside accounting firms for tax and audit purposes
    • Coordinate with Cognaize's international offices in Germany and Armenia

    • Experience in High-

    Tech Startup Accounting:

    Prior experience in accounting for high-tech startup firms, particularly in enterprise software and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) industries, is highly desirable.


    • Proficiency in QuickBooks: Demonstrated expertise in utilizing QuickBooks for accounting processes.
    • Familiarity with

    US GAAP:
    Strong understanding and application of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is required.


    • CPA Certification or

    Accounting Degree:
    CPA certification and/or a degree in Accounting is preferred.


    • Cross-

    Cultural Collaboration:
    Preference will be given to candidates with experience collaborating with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and nationalities.


    • Location: The position is based in either Glendale, CA or New York, NY.
