Position Summary:


The Navigator provides support and services to assist current and former foster young people in strengthening their protective and promotive factors, developing and maintaining stable living situations (family-like setting), increasing employability, and increasing educational attainment.

In support of the young person's identified priority goals, the Navigator will assist in connecting to personal and community resources, to support in the enhancement of informal support networks and life skills development in accordance with DCS contractual service requirements.

The Navigator provides young people services in a manner that is culturally responsive, strengths based and trauma informed. Performs responsibilities and provides effective support to young people with regular supervision, guidance and direction.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Maintain contact with young persons, supportive connections and community partners to assist in the development and progress towards the young person's identified priority needs, per contractual service requirements.
  • Collaborate with young persons under direction of supervisor, to develop individual priority goals utilizing the Youth Thrive Framework.
  • Effectively and collaboratively monitor young person's transition to adulthood, providing support and resources in alignment with the priority needs to the young person and their team
  • Participate in group training and educational meetings as required.
  • Provide individual support and services focusing on activities to develop the young person's protective and promotive factors utilizing Youth Thrive framework, Family Finding, and 357Model.
  • Develop and facilitate trainings and workshops to support young people transitioning to adulthood. This includes exploration and skill building in Youth resilience, social connections, knowledge of adolescent development, concrete support in times of need, and cognitive and socioemotional competence.
  • Maintain accurate client records, completing case notes and supplemental documentational accordance with established timelines, program and contract standards.
  • Complete and provide required monthly, quarterly and annual data reports in accordance with established program and contract standards.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and ethics specific to the agency and particular professional certification.
  • Interact professionally, clearly and timely with internal and external customers and community professionals
  • Represent AzCA as a trauma informed agency while staffing cases, participating in meetings, providing consultation and advocating on behalf of young people.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Ability to conduct service plans and/or systematic skills assessment with young adult to identify current competency level, strengths, assets, barriers to success and areas for growth.
  • Knowledge of Youth Thrive Framework, Family Finding, and 357 Model. Knowledge of community resources.
  • Ability to effectively conduct group meetings and trainings with positive educational base.
  • Prior experience with Keys to Your Financial Future curriculum a plus.
  • Able to safely and effectively monitor client activities.
  • Must be physically capable to administer approved behavioral management techniques as applicable.
  • Ability to work both indoor and outdoor with frequent activity and maneuver obstacles, stairs and unpredictable Capable of growth and acquiring new skills.
  • Ability to effectively handle emergency situations and react accordingly.
  • Ability to safely perform duties despite distractions.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and interpret complex information.
  • Ability to work in a diverse, multicultural environment and be sensitive to the service
- population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.

  • Ability to participate as a team member, utilize supervision and able to accept peer support
  • Effective written, oral and interpersonal communication skills in the English language. Might also require Spanish.
  • Must be organized with the ability to take direction, prioritize tasks, and to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Must have ability to maintain confidentiality, and exhibit sound judgment while providing emotional support.
  • Ability to interact professionally with all staff and guests.
  • Must be able to recognize and communicate with your supervisor to address selfcare needs unorder to effectively maintain all job duties.
  • Ability to work in a variety of environments to include but not limited to in/outdoors with various obstacles, stairs and unknown conditions.
  • Must be able to physically demonstrate competency in the following areas: operate transport vehicles as needed (unless declared a nondriver).
  • Able to operate common office equipment and be proficient with electronic health records, calendaring, word processing and other needed computer and electronic device skills.
