Northstar Transport Services is seeking an experienced dispatcher to join our team at our Norfolk, VA terminal.
Position Description:
Dispatcher is responsible for planning the daily/weekly work schedule of drivers to maximize efficiently covering customer's freight. Communicate and distribute appointment dates/time to owner operators in a fair and optimum manner.
Assist owner operators with any equipment issues, detention time, road breakdowns and any additional requests made of the owner operator.
Essential Functions:
- Must use independent judgment when relating customer requests, appointment times and assigning orders to specific owner operators who run the road, local or city. Work in conjunction with customer service updating customer service with any event changes pertaining to any given work order.
- Update in real time event changes of dispatch orders in transportation system from the paperwork the drivers turn in daily relating to completed runs. Scan paperwork into system once completed.
- Actively participate in driver recruiting and retention
- Data entry skills, Strong communication, and organizational skills
Work in a faced pace environment, work well with others, and owner operators.
We offer paid holidays and paid vacation. Health benefits are available after 90 days of employment and a 401 K.
Pay:
$70, $80,000.00 per year
