Description

Duties include but are not limited to:

Demonstrating appropriate long and short-term preparation for classroom instruction
Holding high expectations for all students and serving as a facilitator of student learning
Organizing and using a variety of teaching techniques, strategies, materials, and technology to maximize the learning of each child, individually and in group settings
Assessing student progress, providing students and parents with specific feedback, and using the results to adjust instruction as needed
Providing opportunities for academic support and challenge
Taking responsibility for teaching the district learning expectations as outlined in the curriculum documents
Keeping abreast of current developments in the field and continue to deepen understanding of the discipline(s)
Establishing and maintaining a functional, attractive, orderly, and safe classroom environment that is conducive to student learning and builds a sense of community

Requirements Qualifications:

Knowledge about the developmental needs of adolescents
Ability to present the curriculum using an inquiry approach
An academic background in reading and writing
Ability to differentiate instruction and assess learning using a variety of methods
A strong foundation in studentcentered pedagogy
Bachelor's Degree
Major or minor in the content area
DESE certification, 912 English
SEI endorsement

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree
Experience with teaching high school
