Description

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Demonstrating appropriate long and short-term preparation for classroom instruction
  • Holding high expectations for all students and serving as a facilitator of student learning
  • Organizing and using a variety of teaching techniques, strategies, materials, and technology to maximize the learning of each child, individually and in group settings
  • Assessing student progress, providing students and parents with specific feedback, and using the results to adjust instruction as needed
  • Providing opportunities for academic support and challenge
  • Taking responsibility for teaching the district learning expectations as outlined in the curriculum documents
  • Keeping abreast of current developments in the field and continue to deepen understanding of the discipline(s)
  • Establishing and maintaining a functional, attractive, orderly, and safe classroom environment that is conducive to student learning and builds a sense of community

Requirements Qualifications:


  • Knowledge about the developmental needs of adolescents
  • Ability to present the curriculum using an inquiry approach
  • An academic background in reading and writing
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and assess learning using a variety of methods
  • A strong foundation in studentcentered pedagogy
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Major or minor in the content area
  • DESE certification, 912 English
  • SEI endorsement

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Master's Degree
  • Experience with teaching high school
