The role reports to the Planning & Fulfillment Manager and is located in Hackettstown, New Jersey.As a Mold Setup Tech- 3rd Shift, you will be setting up molds, fixtures in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals and manufacturers' specifications and associated equipment in accordance with the daily molding and set up schedules.
Review Molds with Manufacturing Engineering.Your responsibilitiesSet up and adjust injection molding machines rubber and plastic including internal components within moldUse of hand tools, power tools, precision measuring equipment and testing instrumentsObserve mechanical and electrical devices in operation to locate cause of troubleDismantle molds to gain access to remove defective parts.
Examine form and texture of parts to detect imperfectionsRepair or fabricate defective partsOperate hoist system to transfer molds onto rack and in to pressesInstall special functional and structural parts in molds, perform tests, and troubleshootUse prints and drawings provided by the manufacturer and the Engineering Department for rebuilding proceduresDetermine configurations of hydraulic valves and various hydraulic components for the proper operation of the equipmentPerform minor plumbing for moldsAssist in major rebuilding of molds under supervisor or project leaderAssist maintenance mechanics if mold needs to be removed for press repairCommunicate any tooling or set up issues that impact production to the Molding Set Up Lead person or the supervisor in a timely mannerMake necessary safety and control adjustments (stack height, obstruction pressure, slow close, etc.)
Change worn or damaged leader pins, stripper bolts, etcOperate presses for mold changesCommunicate with Tool Room Leadsperson on Tooling issuesClean mold tooling using wire brush, sand blaster or dry ice-cold jet and prepare molds/tooling for shipmentMaintain setup records and associated paperworkFollow company policies and regulations including quality, safety, and production standardsHandle hazardous waste from work area to accumulation siteMay need to cover other shifts, as necessary, and perform other duties, as assignedYour backgroundHigh School Diploma or equivalentGeneral PC SkillsAbility to interact and communicate with all levels of internal employees and external individuals1 to 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environmentExperience as a mold setter a plusKnowledgeable in mechanical & electrical schematicsPCL/Electronic experience a plusAbility to lift up to 50lbs Ability to perform repetitive operations and pull/push functionsAbility to stand for 8 hours dailyComfortable bending, twisting, reachingComfortable working with heavy equipment and in a non-climate-controlled environmentMust be able to work on hot moldsAbility to operate forklift truck and walk behind lift truckSome experience in troubleshooting electrical issues utilizing voltmeter Able to demonstrate knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systemsExposure to troubleshooting Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the USMore about usWe look forward to receiving your application.
