- Review and understand project plans, specifications, and other relevant documents
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to gather necessary information
- Analyze project requirements and break down the scope of work into specific tasks
- Estimate material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs based on historical data, industry standards, and current market conditions
- Utilize construction estimating software and tools to enhance accuracy and efficiency
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from construction drawings to determine the amount of materials required for each project component
- Verify and validate takeoff quantities with project stakeholders
- Obtain quotes and pricing from suppliers and subcontractors
- Evaluate vendor and subcontractor bids to ensure competitiveness and compliance with project specifications
- Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to secure favorable pricing and terms
- Collaborate with procurement teams to establish cost-effective agreements
- Prepare comprehensive and accurate cost estimates, including a breakdown of costs for labor, materials, equipment, overhead, and profit margins
- Develop detailed project budgets for review by senior management and clients
- Identify potential risks and uncertainties that may impact project costs
- Develop contingency plans and risk mitigation strategies
- Maintain accurate and organized documentation of cost estimates, quotes, and relevant correspondence
- Update and revise estimates as project details evolve
- Present cost estimates to internal teams, clients, and other stakeholders
- Address inquiries and provide clarification on cost-related matters
- Stay informed about industry trends, construction methods, and market conditions
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve estimating processes and methodologies
- Perform other required tasks as assigned
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, architecture, or a related field
- Experience in Commerical Construction preferred
- Proven experience as a Construction Estimator
- Experience in Procore, Microsoft Projects, or similar Construction Estimating package is a plus
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Knowledge of local building codes and regulations
- Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
- Must be able to work weekends if workload requires.
- Strong math skills including algebra, geometry, and basic arithmetic
- Ability to navigate specifications and plans
- Proficiency in demonstrating proposals and projects
- Ability to handle multiple assignments at once
- Knowledge of the latest building codes
- Close attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A bachelor's degree in mathematics, architecture, or a similar field is preferred
- Certificate in general construction, roofing, electrician, etc.
- At least 3 -5 years of related experience is required
