    Cleveland Classical Guitar Society (CCGS) is hiring a Director of Education who is an integral part of the CCGS team.

    This position is a combination of in-person classroom observations, planning and supervising events and meetings, and office work which can be done remotely.

    Candidates ideally should have experience and a background in management and/or music education; skills in classical guitar are not required.

    Cleveland Classical Guitar Society (CCGS) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization founded on the belief that music can create positive social change.

    CCGS is dedicated to providing life-changing opportunities for students in the City of Cleveland through the Education Program, affording them an outlet to express themselves, think creatively, and realize their potential in music, school, and beyond.

    The International Series is one of the finest in the country, presenting the greatest guitarist from around the world.

    Guitarists in the greater community of all ages and abilities are encouraged through events such as open recitals, masterclasses, and guitar orchestras.

    CCGS has made a big impact on the field by commissioning 48 new works by underrepresented composers through the Creative Fusion and Composers in Residence programs.

    The Director of Education is responsible for leading and managing the Education Program. This includes vision and strategy; managing personnel, schedules, and program operations; and forming relationships with partners, students, and families.

    Essential Functions:

    • Provide direction and strategic planning, collaboratively with the Executive Director.
    • Manage staff and contracted Educators – approximately 3 – 5 Teachers.
    • Communicate vision to internal and external parties, verbally and in writing (teacher manual,
    • Manage professional development, training, and classroom observations for Educators.
    • Provide annual goals and data/results to the development team for funders.
    • Maintain relationships with partners locally and nationally.
    • Provide performance reviews for staff Educators.
    • Plan and lead Educator meetings.
    • Meet with individual Educators to address their needs and opportunities to improve the program.
    • Maintain relationships with site partners and meet to evaluate each partners' program.
    • This position includes scheduling classes and student performances and managing data and
    supplies.

    • Other duties as assigned.

    Job Requirements:

    • Minimum bachelor's degree in music; Music Education preferred. Skills in classical guitar not required.
    • 3+ years of experience in coordinating or managing a music education program, music classroom teaching, and/or music curriculum development.
    • Ability and skills to effectively manage educators and community partners.
    • Ability to build strong relationships with educators, partners, students, and families.
    • Cultural sensitivity toward youth within urban communities. Ideally, knowledge/experience in the City of Cleveland or other similar cities.
    • Strong written and oral communication skills.
    • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail (able to schedule classes and
    coordinate with educators, partners, students, and families)

    • Experience and proficiency in Google Docs.
    • A passion for CCGS's mission.

    Working Conditions / Physical Demands:

    General office and music education environment must be able to utilize phones, computers and screens, and other office equipment.

    While performing the duties of the job, the employee is frequently required to sit; talk; or hear and occasionally stand, walk, reach, stoop, or kneel.

    Must be able to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Must be able to travel locally to sites and programs.

    The salary range is $52,000 to $65,000 based on work experience, with health insurance available and paid time off benefits.
