JOB SUMMARY:


Administers, directs and coordinates activities in Mental Health Services(In-Patient and Partial Hospital) inclusive of the following: supervision of professional and paraprofessional staff; assessment, planning, provision, and evaluation of psychiatric nursing care to patients; medication teaching; management of the therapeutic milieu; provision of mandatory and voluntary in-service training to all staff; and provision of treatments and therapies, such as individual, group and family therapies, that require the clinical expertise of a professional psychiatric nurse.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Demonstrates leadership abilities; Possesses good oral and written communication skills.

Demonstrates interpersonal relationships in a manner which enhances communication, promotes conflict resolution and facilitates staff development Demonstrates the competence to participate in interdisciplinary formulation of individual treatment plans; to give skilled nursing care and therapy; and to direct, monitor and evaluate the nursing care furnished on the service.


Education:


Registered nurse with a master's degree in psychiatric or mental health nursing or its equivalent from a school of nursing accredited by the National League of Nursing, or be qualified by education and experience in the care of the mentally ill.


Licensure/Registration/Certification:

Currently licensed as a professional nurse in New York State

ACLS Credential preferred

Crisis Prevention Institute Credential


Work Experience:


Two to five years of clinical experience in area under span of control, including experience in patient care, operational management and supervision.


Physical & Other Factors:

On feet and sitting at computer

Able to work under stressful situations


Work & Environmental Conditions:

Exposed to patient elements and handling of emergencies and critical patient incidents


Pay:
From $62.80 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
