RESEARCH STUDY COORDINATOR - DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS CENTER OF EXCELLENCE

BALTIMORE RESEARCH & EDUCATION FOUNDATION (BREF)


The Baltimore Research and Education Foundation (BREF) is a non-profit biomedical foundation that supports the research and education missions of the Veterans Affairs Maryland Healthcare System (VAMHCS) by managing research and education projects funded by non-VA sponsors.

In this capacity, BREF employs research staff for investigators doing clinical research at the Baltimore VA Medical Center.


GENERAL JOB SUMMARY
This full-time position is for a clinical Research Study Coordinator in the VA Multiple Sclerosis Center of Excellence-Neurology Service.

The position will work with research investigators to implement protocols and conduct a major multiple sclerosis clinical trial and other research studies.

The position requires someone who can work independently and perform diverse duties.


JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


The incumbent will be required to collaborate and work closely with multiple team members, including the Principal Investigator, other research study coordinators, pharmacists, physicians, data managers, statisticians, neurology residents and fellows on various projects which are related to multiple sclerosis.

Duties include, but are not limited to, screening, recruitment and enrollment of patients, maintaining patient data, study-specific interventions and procedures, completion of case report forms, completing required documentation for Institutional Review Board and other compliance organizations, maintaining study files, arranging logistics for study audits, working with administration to ensure all study related approvals and activities remain compliant and up to date, and communicating with study sponsors on status at site as well as any adverse events.

Additional responsibilities can include conducting library research and contributing to the preparation and writing of research findings for publication and grant proposals.

Occasional overnight travel 1-2 times a year may be required for trial meetings.


APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in clinical research.
  • Additional education may be substituted for required experience, and additional related experience may be substituted for required education.
  • Permanent US residents and US citizens medical graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Experience with IRB regulations and compliance.
  • Must be selfmotivated and have the ability to work with mínimal supervision.
  • Must be able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Demonstrations attention to detail and is highly organized.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
