About the Role:

We're looking for highly motivated Assistant Terminal Manager to join our Manchester team.

The Terminal Assistant Manager supports the Terminal Manager and is responsible for safely, accurately, and efficiently managing all terminal operations at our flagship location, Manchester Terminal.

This role is also responsible for the safety of the work crews, and ensuring safety standards are followed.

  • Minimum two (2) years of supervisory experience in the Maritime industry.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • TWIC card required.
  • Strong communication skills, with proficiency in English; bilingual in Spanish preferred.

What are the physical requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Exposure to various outdoor environmental factors.
  • Physical activities including standing, walking, climbing, bending, squatting, reaching, and lifting.
  • Work at heights and in confined spaces may be required.
  • Vision, hearing, and manual dexterity capabilities necessary.
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts, dust, fumes, and noise.
  • Potential requirement to work on holidays and weekends.
  • Employee is occasionally required to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 30 pounds.
  • Employee is continuously required to sit.
  • Employee is frequently required to stand, walk, climb, bend forward, squat, twist, pinch, and reach overhead.
  • Employee may be required to reach forward, sit, grasp, and exercise repetitive foot and wrist motion and finger dexterity; eyehand and eyehandfoot coordination may also be required.
  • Employee is frequently required to talk and hear.
  • Employee is occasionally required to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 30 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee is required to climb 50 ft+ vertical ladder.
  • The employee is frequently required to work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Work is performed primarily in an office environment but could also involve being near moving mechanical parts.
  • Work may involve moderate exposure to inclement weather/elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, airborne particles, smoke, unpleasant odors, toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Noise level exposure may be moderate to high.
  • Local and nonlocal travel may be required (approximately 10% of the time).
  • Must be able to work extended hours, weekends, or holidays, as needed.

Responsabilidades:


What You'll Do:


  • Responsible for all activities within the respective terminals to include managing space allocation, ordering rail cars, providing extra services, all promoting teamwork and communication and enforcing effective housekeeping.
  • Provides guidance and leadership to four Terminal Supervisors to ensure terminal logs are completed accurately, timely, and forwarded to cargo services for processing.
  • Maintains a current schedule of all operations within the respective terminals and communicates same, as well as any changes, to site management.
  • Communicates regularly and frequently (e.g., at least daily) to the Operations Manager with regard to personnel and equipment requirements and availability.
  • Continuously works to improve QHSE and efficiency within the respective terminals.
  • Troubleshoots/problemsolves and acts as a liaison for inventory/cargo questions from the customer, cargo services, and terminal operations.
