Dental Assistant Job Description
For our private dental practice in Mesa, AZ is looking for a dental assistant. This job opportunity includes monthly bonus, vacation/sick pay and medical insurance coverage. This dental assistant will help assist with patient preparation, sterilization of tools, room setup, and some dental hygiene activities.

This dental assistant should have a dental x-ray certification (or working on it) and provide excellent dental patient care to succeed in this position.

Dental assistants should be well-organized and meticulous in their work. You should be able to follow directions and adhere to the rules of the dental practice.

We want you to be capable of delivering direct or indirect patient care and ensuring that the dental office procedures run smoothly.


Dental Assistant Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Welcome customers to the dental office
  • Prepare customers for treatments or checkups, ensuring their comfort
  • Select and set up instruments, equipment and materials needed
  • Sterilize instruments according to regulations
  • Assist the dentist through 4handed dentistry
  • Undertake lab tasks as instructed
  • Provide oral hygiene and postoperative care instructions
  • Keep the dental room clean and wellstocked
  • Schedule appointments
  • Maintain accurate patient records and assist with payment procedures
  • When necessary, assist dentists in the management of medical and dental emergencies

Dental Assistant Requirements:


  • Proven experience as a dental assistant (6 months minimum preferred)
  • Knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization methods
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations
  • Ability to perform regulated nonsurgical tasks like coronal polishing is a plus
  • Good computer skills
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Must be wellorganized and reliable
  • High school diploma
  • Graduate of a dental assistant school is preferred
  • Additional certification or training is an asset (e.g. EFDA)
