Duties:


The Deputy Director will support AmeriCorps' Office for Strategic Partnerships to advance agency, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and Administration priorities at AmeriCorps.

The incumbent will execute AmeriCorps' strategic plan and manage day to day operational and strategic priorities of the Strategic Partnerships team.

The Deputy Director will be the career lead to ensure the continuation of progress related to AmeriCorps strategic partnerships between presidential administrations and in the absence of a senior political appointee, who serves as the managing director of the office.


In support of the Senior Advisor/managing director, the Deputy Director will drive the definition of partnership success; set and manage to ambitious cross-functional goals; celebrate achievement and hold the team accountable; design and administer processes and frameworks to ensure successful internal and external collaboration; and engage with senior leadership to strengthen relationships and identify new areas in which we might work together and with key stakeholders.


Additional responsibilities include:


Develop, launch, and enhance partnerships with federal/state agencies and non-governmental partners on priority policy and programmatic issues; connect with public and private sector experts in support of Partnerships Team goals; provide learning and engagement opportunities for a variety of stakeholders; and share resources and information relevant to AmeriCorps' work and impact.

Provide expertise in formulating specific strategic plans and monitor performance against established goals and objectives. Work closely with other senior leaders to define short
- and long-term policies and strategies and then connect with internal and external stakeholders to expand on the agency's vision.

Plan and coordinate office activities, with significant responsibility for directing tasks and ensuring accomplishments. Facilitates Partnerships team meetings and ensure tracking to weekly, quarterly, and yearly goals.

Develop innovative strategies and identify areas of opportunity to construct additional programs and partnerships to advance priority issues.

Provides recommendations for the enhancement, development, implementation and monitoring of outreach strategies and plans, ensuring that major initiatives of national scope and influence are incorporated.

Provides guidance to team members regarding the development of new partnerships. Facilitates collaboration among staff/teams in support of existing project goals, as well as the expansion of upcoming projects.


Develop, analyze and implement project plans to advance AmeriCorps' partnership priorities and strategies, including tracking success against AmeriCorps' strategic plan strategies and objectives, as well as Interagency Policy Committees and Working Groups.


Provide leadership and creative thought partnership while collaborating across multiple program areas with internal stakeholders on strategies to advance cross-organizational initiatives.

Maintain existing and implement new technologies and systems and ensure buy-in from relevant team members and other AmeriCorps offices.


Understand and maintain a high level of awareness regarding local and national policies and trends that affect the organization and shape stakeholders' views.

Provide strategic and project management oversight to advance partnerships with philanthropic, corporate, and nonprofit partners for AmeriCorps campaigns and events (e.g., 30th Anniversary Celebration)

Exercises the full range of supervisory responsibilities for assigned staff including recommending selections; identifying and meeting employees' training and development needs; assigning, controlling, and reviewing work; evaluating performance; recognizing employee accomplishments; counseling employees on performance deficiencies, and initiating appropriate disciplinary actions, as necessary

Ensure senior agency leaders receive thoroughly and properly vetted and reviewed decision documents and briefing materials.

Represent the agency on interagency working groups and policy committees and provide read outs; leverage interagency opportunities and platforms to educate other agencies about the value of AmeriCorps.

Support senior leadership with the implementation of business processes and accountability measures for work and deliverables.

Performs other duties as asigned.

  • You must be a United States Citizen
  • A 2year probationary period is required for new Federal employees
  • Merit Promotion applicants must submit a SF50 to verify Status and grade
  • Must be telework ready
  • Satisfactory completion of a background investigation
  • A supervisory probationary period is required for new Federal supervisors
