EVALUATION TEAM CHAIRPERSON, Special Education DepartmentREPORTS TO:
Director of Special Education
SALARY:
As per LSAA Contract.
EFFECTIVE DATES OF EMPLOYMENT:
Start of the School Year
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To participate actively and regularly in the Student Support Team conferences.
- To follow IDEA, and O.C.R. regulations to ensure that time constraints are adhered and parent/student rights are upheld.
- To encourage involvement of parents in the evaluation process through written and verbal communications.
- To coordinate and chair the Evaluation Team's approach in the complete study of students.
- To involve Team members in developing an Individual Educational Plan.
- To prepare Individualized Educational Plans which reflect diagnoses and prescriptions of Team members.
- To develop and maintain complete and cumulative individual records, educational plans and reports on all students receiving Special Education services.
- To conduct all necessary and prescribed conferences with parents, teachers, administrators, consultants, and related outside agency personnel.
- To keep administrators and staff members well informed about student case processing.
- To help plan for the integration of students into less restrictive environments.
- To work cooperatively with Special Education Administration and School Administrative Staff.
- To attend regularly scheduled meetings with the Special Education Administrator.
- To work constructively and cooperatively with others in identifying and solving issues and problems to effectuate and maintain quality education.
- To perform such other tasks as the Director of Special Education or building administrator may from time to time assign.
- To develop and maintain a complete and cumulative database of students receiving special education services.
- To review and monitor all annual Review Team meetings and generate Individual Education Plans.
REQUIREMENTS:
- A Master's Degree from an accredited college or university.
- Licensure valid for service in the category of Special Education in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- Advanced educational preparation in Special Education desired.
- Three years of successful teaching or related experience in Special Education.
- Knowledge of the management and intricacies of the Team Evaluation process and the integration of students with disabilities.
- Knowledge of Special Education programs; a willingness to familiarize oneself with K-12 general education programs
