Position:

Salemhaven Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is seeking an experienced Activities Assistant that is positive and passionate about working with the elderly.

The activities Assistant will assist the Activities Department with providing a stimulating and enjoyable environment for patients/residents.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for organizing and facilitating of residentcentered activity events.
Facilitating daily, weekly, and monthly events to encourage socialization, relaxation, and recreation.
Transporting residents to scheduled activities and to dining area
Leads daily activities for both individual and groups including, but not limited to arts and crafts, recreational games, sensory stimulation, cognitive activities, discussion groups, and musical entertainment events.
Observing participants in order to gauge their enjoyment and obtain feedback on the events.
Ensures that all materials needed for the event are well prepared and timely.
Reporting medical concerns or observations.
Utilize motivational techniques to encourage resident/patient engagement.
Provides participants with instructions for the event.
Ensure completion of daily activity attendance records.
Adheres to regulatory requirements, organizational policies, and procedures.
Adhering to and enforcing all safety procedures.
Performs additional duties as assigned.

Required Schedule:

Full-Time 40 Hours/Week
Sunday through Wednesday: 8:30am 5:00pm.
Thursday: 10:30am 7:00pm

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diplomaor equivalent.
Adaptability and strong organization and time management skills.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Ability to multitask and prioritize within scheduled events.
Must be available to work Sunday, and/or weekends as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

Job training and firstaid and CPR training a plus.
Prior experience with recreational activities in a long term care setting preferred.

Pay:
$ $19.00 per hour
