- Become fully knowledgeable in Cal Fresh requirements and policies set by the California Department of Social Services;
- Provide detailed explanations of benefits to eligible individuals and offer application assistance;
- Assist with annual renewals for programs such as Cal Fresh, Cal Works, and Medi-Cal;
- Maintain regular communication with applicants and partner agencies;
- Keep consumer applications updated in the tracking system;
- Collaborate with RSI staff on advocacy efforts;
- Identify barriers hindering program utilization;
- Participate in continuous learning related to program updates;
- Two years of college in Human Services or relevant field;
- Experience in public speaking and customer service;
- Knowledge of Independent Living philosophy and disability-related issues;
- Working understanding of social security benefits;
- Experience with nonprofit organizations is beneficial;
- Ability to multitask, work with diverse groups, and meet deadlines;
- Dependable transportation for travel;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office;
- Fluency in English required, Spanish and Sign Language skills a plus;
- Customer service-oriented and adaptable to changing priorities;
- Contribute to a positive work environment;
- Computer work for extended periods;
- Lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs. of materials;

With a mission to empower people with disabilities to lead independent lives, RSI has been serving the community in San Bernardino County for 44 years, extending its services to Inyo and Mono Counties as well.

Position Summary:
The Outreach Coordinator for public program enrollment at RSI will play a crucial role in enrolling consumers into vital programs such as Cal Fresh (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), Cal Works, and Medi-Cal. Working closely with the Executive Director/Program Manager, this role involves conducting outreach activities, fostering a culture of healthy living, and encouraging individuals to take the necessary steps to enroll in these programs. The Outreach Coordinator will specifically focus on enrolling income-eligible individuals within the service area.
Responsibilities include establishing strong partnerships with food banks, community organizations, and agencies to ensure outreach and assistance are effectively provided to individuals in need of these benefits.
