General Statement

Under general supervision, prepares multi-discipline engineering drawings used for contract bidding and construction using computer aided drafting and design (CADD) tools.

• Plans and prepares accurate representations of architectural, civil, mechanical, electrical, process, and structural engineering design features using CADD tools.
• Generates CADD engineering drawings in two-dimensions and three-dimensions.
• Reviews drawings for accuracy, conformity to standards, and makes necessary revisions.
• Utilizes CADD software for various functions such as data provision, report generation, and calculations.
• Creates and updates Master Underground Process Piping Survey (MUPPS) drawings and databases.
• Collaborates with engineers, architects, and draftsmen to discuss design requirements and layouts.
• Maintains project files and stays updated on CADD software techniques.

Other Job Functions

• Prepares plots and drawings by manipulating digital data from different sources.
• Produces graphical displays, charts, tables, and exhibits using CADD software and digital images.
• Conducts field investigations and measurements on existing installations.
• Performs assigned duties as necessary.

Environmental Conditions

Work environment includes office settings and occasional visits to areas requiring safety gear.

• Knowledge of engineering drafting and CADD principles and practices.
• Understanding of drafting approaches for various engineering sectors.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Possession of an Associates Degree in computer aided drafting and design (CADD) in the Architectural/Engineering/Construction (AEC) discipline and one year of drafting experience working with architects or engineers.

Substitution

Relevant work experience can substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Promotional Requirement

• One year of experience as an Engineering Draftsman I within the District.
• Civil service status as an Engineering Draftsman I.
