    Description

    POSITION GOAL

    To assist with the administration and supervision of the Transportation Terminal in order to ensure that safe, adequate, efficient and economical transportation services are provided for all eligible area students.

    ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

    The Shift Supervisor, Transportation Terminal shall carry out the performance responsibilities listed below.

    • Supervise staff as assigned in the performance of job duties.
    • Assist with the administration of the transportation terminal and supervise personnel assigned in accordance with statutes, policies, regulations and directives from the Manager Transportation Terminal.
    • Evaluate assigned terminal routes and coordinate schedule changes during the school year with the routing and scheduling section of the Student Transportation and Fleet Services Department.
    • Maintain a complete set of updated synopsis, schedules, route directions and seating charts to facilitate safe and efficient student transportation services.
    • Submit and approve time-keeping entries for assigned staff, monitoring compliance with the regularly assigned work shift.
    • Assist with administering and ensure compliance with the Department of Transportation's Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act (OTETA).
    • Assign bus operators and attendants to buses in accordance with Board Policy and the union contract, ensuring coverage of all routes as assigned by the Manager, Transportation Terminal.
    • Advise appropriate school staff members of all changes that may affect student transportation, including changes to in bus numbers, routes, and stops.
    • Assist in resolving issues that arise in the transportation terminal in a timely manner consistent with statutes, policies, regulations and directives.
    • Research, investigate and answer incoming correspondence and/or telephone calls received at the transportation terminal.
    • Assist in administering performance evaluation appraisals for assigned bus operators and attendants.
    • Compile and submit required reports on transportation activities and employee schedules as requested by the Manager, Transportation Terminal or designee.
    • Perform and promote all activities in compliance with the equal employment and non-discrimination policies of The School Board of Broward County, Florida.
    • Participate in training programs offered to enhance the individual skills and proficiency related to job responsibilities.
    • Review current developments, literature and technical sources of information related to job responsibilities.
    • Ensure adherence to safety rules and procedures.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or designee.
    • Follow federal and state, as well as School Board policies.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

    • A standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of an approved General Educational Development (GED) Testing Program.
    • A minimum of six (6) years, within the last ten (10) years, of experience in the field related to the title of the position.
    • Excellent organizational skills.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Computer skills as required for the position.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

    • An earned associate's degree from an accredited institution.
    • Prior school district transportation department work experience.
    • Bilingual skills.

    SIGNIFICANT CONTACTS-frequency, contact, purpose

    On a daily basis works with employees, supervisors, managers, and directors of the Student Transportation and Fleet Services, District Schools and all other stakeholders, to assist in the administration and supervision of student transportation for assigned area.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

    Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District's approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the School Board.
